Individual Details

Nathaniel Rice

( - Bef Jul 1801)

Died before his father's will was written. Left wife Sally and several children. The wife is said to have been Sarah Williamson.

The Caswell Co marriages show the marriage of his cousin of the same name to Susannah Butler in 1781 - and the cousin's son, Nathaniel Lacy Rice who married Henrietta Rice, daughter of William Higgason Rice & Susannah Williams Brooks. There are two other marriages of a Nathan or Nathaniel Rice - one to Polly King in 1825, too late to be this man as he was already deceased. One of Nathan Rice Junr to Sally Poyner which cannot be this man either as it took place in 1801 only three years before his death. One of these two later marriages is likely the son listed below.

....Williamson Rice may have been living in Jefferson Co, AL by 1830 - and he may be the William M. Rice in Madison Co AL in 1850. He is said to have married Zuriah Sims, 9 Jan 1797 in Caswell, but in 1850 the wife appears to be Maleta, age 73, also born in NC if that is the same person.
....Nathan, thought to be the Nathan Rice who married Sally Poyner, 23 Dec 1801, Caswell.
....John Rice who moved to Rockingham Co before 1820
