Joel C. Rice
(1762 - 25 Jun 1833)
Married about 1793 to Mary Elizabeth Pryor Hickman, widow of Capt Edwin Hickman who was killed by Indians in Tennessee. Joel represented Nashville in the NC Legislature in 1789 before Tennessee became a state.
Joel went to Tennessee in the mid 1780's. He was Justice of the Peace in Davidson Co in 1790. They were living at Hickman's Station, 8 miles west of Nashville when Tennessee became a state in 1796. In 1810, Joel bought land in Madison Co, AL.
