Individual Details
Eleanor "Nellie" ADAMSON
(28 Oct 1804 - )
John & Mary Hammer Adamson did have a daughter named Eleanor. Some databases seem to have confused this Eleanor with the daughter of John N.'s brother Simon Jr, as Simon also named a daughter Eleanor. Simon's Eleanor was some younger, probably born about 1813.
This lady is very likely the Eleanor Adamson who married John Tharp or Thorp. The 1850 Jasper Co Iowa census had:
John Tharp, age 37, b. Ohio. Eleanor, age 40, b. TN
Hester, age 13, Robert age 12, Mary age 9, Elizabeth age 8, all born in Indiana. Martha age 5 was born in Missouri.
Given John & Eleanor's ages, they could have had older children. There were several John Tharp's in Indiana in 1840, none definitive, but several are the wrong age or have no children.
