Benjamin son of Joseph Johnson married Anna Norvell, dau of James Norvel on 1 Sep 1779. John Johnson, Sec. Wit: William Haden, his brother-in-law.
Marriage said to be referenced in "Marriage Bonds in Goochland County", William and Mary College Quarterly Historical Magazine, Vol. 7, No. 2 (Oct 1898), p. 98f Joseph Johnson's letter of consent to son's marriage & James Norvell's letter of consent to daughter's marriage. [This reference does not have the Witness listed, but does have Security & letters of consent.]

Possibly the Benjn. Johnson in Goochland, 1810: 2 males age 10-16, 1 male over age 45 (he would have been just over this age). 1 female under 10, 1 female 16-26, 1 female over 45.

DNA testing has proved that a descendant of Benjamin is also a descendant of Michael Johnson, his great-grandfather, effectively proving that this lineage is correct.

I Benjamin Johnson of County and State aforesaid do make and publish this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling and making void all other Wills by me at any time made First It is my Will that my funeral expenses and all just debts against me be paid out of any money by me left or that may hereafter come into the hands of my Executor Second To my Son Norvell Johnson I give the tract of land bought by me of David Wendall and known as the Wendall tract lying in Maury County known as Turkey Creek containing about two hundred and sixty acres Also one other tract of land adjoining the above it being the land bought by me from Thomas Pruell/Powell/Pursell [?] containing ninety five acres Also one Negro man named Fleming one other Negro man named Peter and Laura [?] Peter’s wife. Third To my daughter Mary Thurmond I give the tract of land on which I now live also the tract of land on which my said Daughter Mary lives also one Negro Girl about thirteen years old She being the Girl that is now in the possession of my said Daughter Mary Fourth The above property is specially given to my Son Norvell and my Daughter Mary It is my will that all the balance of my estate be divided into six equal portions and divided between my Son Norvell and Daughter Mary and the heirs of my four deceased Sons and Daughters Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my Son Norvell Johnson and Wm Williams my Executors In witness whereof I as to this my will Set my hand and Seal this the 14th day of March 1846 Benjamin Johnson Signed Sealed and published n our presence and we have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the Testator this 14 day of March 1846 Test J A R____ [?] Jurat

He was my great great grandfather and married Lucinda Thurmond and had 14 children including my great grandfather James Edward Johnson Sr., who is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery after being killed in the civil war battle at Shiloh, Tennessee in April 1862
