Individual Details
Margaret Beckwith
( - )
Some say Joseph Morton's wife was Elizabeth Beckwith, others say she was Margaret. Joseph Morton's will does leave instructions for her provision but never mentions her name. That Joseph Morton's wife was a daughter is proved by a deed in Richmond Co VA, dated 20 Dec 1756 from Sir Marmaduke Beckwith to his son-in-law, Joseph Morton. Beckwith's daughter Elizabeth is also cited as born 1723, died 1726 - which would eliminte her as the possible wife.
