Thomas Slade

(1722 - 1798)

Father said to be a William Slade who died in Maryland about 1731. His mother was Elizabeth Cox.

Marriage to Hannah Miles was in St. John's Anglican Church; Joppa. Baltimore Co MD, 29 SEP 1748

Thomas settled in what was then Orange Co in 1765 on the North prong of Rattlesnake Creek.
Found in the NC Revolutionary War Accounts, Book A, p.78: furnished sundries for the Militia of North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.

[The children of Thomas and Hannah cover such a wide range of years, I was sure that perhaps Thomas Slade had an earlier wife - which indeed I found. The Caswell Deed book also has a John Slade of Guilford Co and a James Slade who signs many of the deeds of those listed here.]
