Amber married William Snead. They moved to Kansas City in 1930. He was employed by the city. She was a daytime companion and housekeeper to the artist, Laura Ward Fuller. Her obituary stated she had eight brothers and sisters, all had preceded her in death. Only two nieces were listed as survivors: Treva Ragland Potter of Topeka and Peggy Ragland Blackwell of Holiday Island AR. Numerous great nieces and nephews as would be expected. Amber never had children of her own.

Amber Ellen Ewing Snead, 101, of North Kansas City, MO, died on Friday, October 6, 2000, at White Oak Terrace, Kansas City, MO, where she resided for two years. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 9, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Funeral Home; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2000.
Mrs. Snead was born October 29, 1898, in Uniontown, AR, the daughter of Jesse Porter Ewing and Antoinetta Woods Ewing. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was president of the Mission Society. She also sang in the church choir. Mrs. Snead and her husband, William "Steamboat" Snead, moved to Kansas City, MO, in 1930 where he was employed by the City. They settled in the Swope Park area where she was a daytime companion and housekeeper to artist, Laura Ward Fuller, and assisted her at her studio on the Plaza. Her husband and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by two nieces, Treva Ragland Potter, Topeka, KS, Peggy Ragland Blackwell, Holiday Island, AR; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
