Jesse is said to have had an earlier marriage to Dosh Bayse - they had a daughter Bertha, born about 1887. I have no confirmation for this marriage or child.

I found Jesse Porter Ewing's death certificate. The informant was "Ember" Snead of Joplin. Jesse was a widower - his wife Etta Ewing, having already died. He was born 10 Jun 1866, died 1 Oct 1931 from acute alcholism. He died in Joplin, Jasper Co MO, and was buried Forest Park Cemetery. His father was Joseph Ewing of Kentucky, Amber did not know his mother's name.

He is buried Forest Park, Joplin, Jasper Co, MO, and his stone pictured on FindAGrave. There is a masonic emblem on his stone.
