Samuel Allen

(1795 - )

Interesting that she married another Allen of an age comparable to a possible son of Nathaniel....
However, this Samuel in Terre Haute is traced quite far back on FamilySearch.org with what appears to be good data and he is definitely from a different Allen family.

There is another family living with Samuel and Zelota. Miron D., born circa 1825 and his wife and 2 children. At least one online database shows that Samuel Allen was previously married to Juliana King and that Myron Dexter Allen was their son.
In the 1850 Vigo Co IN Census, is a "Samuel" Allen, age 55, born in New York married to a Zelota, age 50, also born in New York. Child Miron D., born Massachusetts also lives with them with spouse Abigail and a son Frances, age 2, and a daughter Florence E. age 1. There is no indication that there was another Allen of this family, near this age, named Samuel.

I have an autosomal DNA match to a person who descends from Myron Dexter Allen, born 1826. However, I also match this person through John Byrd, father of Elizabeth Byrd Harmon - although the match appears to be closer than this connection, it would not be possible to Miron.

A date of birth of 21 Jul 1795, Farmington, Hartford, CT is given for Samuel Allen - and he is said to have married in 7 Jan 1815 to Juliana King in Farmington. Children are said to be Samuel H., b. 23 Aug 1815; Myron Dexter, b. 1826; Mary J. b. 28 Dec 1827; Rufus C., b. 26 Oct 1831.

There is a cemetery record - Woodlawn, Terre Haute - for a Samuel Allen who was born 1800, buried 14 March 1864. But no Samuel Allen appears in the 1860 census in Vigo Co of anywhere near this age.
