Scituate Town Records - digitized on Ancestry, but copy of the original. First part of the filming is vital records - p.97, image 220, begins a list of livestock marks and various other entries. At the top of p. 97 it says, "Old Record, Vol. 5, p.1". There is an index of sort, but very hard to follow.
p.125/197 No date - dates vary from 1659-1739, old page numbers inconsistent - probably the son William since it follow entries for Samuel, but could be his father.

Capt. William Holbrook, born about 1620 in Glastonbury, Somerset, England, baptized 12 June 1620 at St. Johns, in Glastonbury, died 3 July 1699 at Scituate, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts; married Elizabeth Pitts, born about 1622 at Newcastle, Tyne, England, died about 1696 at Scituate, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, daughter of William & Elizabeth Pitts. "Capt. William Holbrook came to Scituate in 1660, and purchased lands in Conihasseett, adjoining the farm of Capt. Michael Pierce, on the sowth-west. His house was built on the south side of the Cohasset road, a half mile west of Capt. Pierce's." He resided in Weymouth till about 1663, when he removed to Mendon. The Indians drove him back in 1676 and thereafter he settled in Scituate by 1676. Freeman 1647. Selectman, Deacon, and Captain in militia at Mendon.

He married, second, about 1696, Abigail (Wright) Sharpe Clapp, the widow of Robert Sharpe and Thomas Clapp, and daughter of Richard Wright and Margaret ____ Wright.
Children(by first marriage): Samuel Holbrook, Elizabeth Holbrook Sprague Bick, Mehitable Holbrook Sprague, William Holbrook Jr, Cornelius Holbrook, John Holbrook, Millicent Holbrook, and Persis Holbrook Farrow.
