George Hedden Bird of Dallas Texas. Born at Jersey City, New Jersey, 2nd of November, 1868. His father John Bird, born Boonton, NJ is dead. He has never resided outside the US and his permanent residence is Dallas where he is an accountant. He will be doing Red Cross Work in Gt. Britain, France, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Roumania, Albania, Serbia, and Montenegro.
His description: age 48. 5 feet 10 1/2 inches tall. Large mouth, square chin, medium forehead. Hair is brown sprinkled with gray, eyes brown. Nose straight and face oval.

A note from the War Departments dated 3 Oct 1918, states that they have no objection to this travel for duty with the A.E.G. in connection with the Red Cross.

"Dallas Man Decorated for War Activities"
A dispatch from Paris, France, has been received in Dallas to the effect that George H. Bird of this city who served as a major in the Red Cross with the American relief mission in Armenia and other countries of the Near East, has been decorated by King Nicholas of Montenegro. The decoration is of the Order of Prince Danile of the third class. Maj. Bird already had been decorated by the King of Serbia and King of Roumania for his services in the Near East.

His employment had been as president of a public accounting firm. He was widowed. Born 2 Nov 1868 in Morristown, New Jersey. His mother was Elizabeth Hedden, his father John Bird.
