Miss Nita King is Bride of Army Man
Of local as well as state interest is the announcement of the marriage of Miss Neta King, Tulsa, to Lt. Thomas Pope Beckett, San Antonio, Texas.
The nuptial vows were read quietly Saturday afternoon at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. David King, Tahlequah, in the presence of only a few close friends and immediate family members.
Rev. K. Hill, pastor of the Methodist Church in Tahlequah, officiated.
...The bride was given in marriage by her brother, John King, Miami.
...Following the reception the couple left for a short wedding trip before making their home in San Antonio.
...The bride is a graduate of Tahlequah HS and the Northeastern State Teachers College.
...The bridegroom, son of Mr. & Mrs. D. Beckett, Blue Mound, IL, attended Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa.

Died in New York City while spending the last few days with her husband before he left for service in World War II. Had one daughter, Neta Jo, who was adopted by Neva's sister Eva and husband Joseph Fulcher.

Tulsa Woman Dies on NY Visit With Office Husband
A visit to New York City to see her lieutenant colonel husband for the first time in 14 months, Wednesday, resulted in death for Mrs. Neta King Beckett 27-year-old Tulsa mother, who succumbed to meningitis before her husband's leave was up.
Mrs. Beckett lived at 1239 S. Atlanta Ave and was the mother of a nine-month-old baby, Neta Jo Beckett. The body was being returned to Tahlequah for services at the First Methocist Church at 2:30 pm Sunday.
...She leaves the widower, Lt. Col. Thomas P. Beckett of the Army Air Corps; the daughter; her mother, Mrs. David King of Tahlequah; six sisters, Mrs. Joseph Fulcher, 3621 S. Yorktown Ave; Mrs. Jack Kisner, New Braunfels, Texas; Mrs. Herbert Bice, Tahlequah, and Mrs. Harvey Trevillian, Mrs. Arthur David, and Mrs. Harry Peeler, all of New York City; and two brothers, Lester King, Oklahoma City, and John King, overseas with the Seabees.

The NY Death Index actually gives her place of death as Mt. Vernon, Westchester Co, NY. This is an inner suburb of New York City - likely where the hospital was located.
