Eugene S. Hays, aged 28, of Van Buren, AR, applied for marriage license to marry Mary Bell Patterson, age 24, of McAlester, OK, 20 Nov 1926. Rev. A. E. Arnfield, Prebyterian Minister of Sequoyah Co, OK married them the same day in the presence of Fred Spear of Sallisaw, OK and W. C. Evans of Ft. Smith, AR.

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Belle Hayes, 61, long-time McAlester resident of 305 E. Creek, was held Monday afternoon in the First Christian Church.
Rev. Joe Samuels officiated. Burial was in the Masonic sectionof Oak Hill Cemetery under direction of Chaney's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hays died last Friday at a local hospital after a long Illness. She was born in Paris, Tex., Dec 8, 1900.
She was a school teacher for more than 30 years and was a member of the Christian Church.
Her husband, Eugene S. Hays, and a son preceded her in death, Nov. 7 1949.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Marcelle Bootes, Oklahoma City; a brother, Harvey Crowell, McAlester, and two granddaughter, Mrs. Marcie Padley, Memphis, Tenn., and Deborah Lynn Bootes, Oklahoma City.
