Mary's picture is posted on FindAGrave - she looked a lot like my Great Aunt Minnie (Hays) Comstock. Definitely a family resemblance. Mary's was Minnie's niece.
OBITUARY - SOUTHWEST TIMES RECORD - FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS
MARY M. DEFFENBAUGH, 79, of Van Buren died Tuesday, September 17, 1996, in a local nursing home. She was a retired cashier for Hays Grocery and a member of Alexander Memorial Christian Church.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., September 19, 1996 in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Cash of Hot Springs; two sons, Gary and Daniel Deffenbaugh, both of Van Buren; a sister, Dorothy Vines of Van Buren; a brother, Hadley Hays of Jackson, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Drew and Matt Deffenbaugh, Brian and Floyd Arick and Howard Simmons and her nephew, Ted Hays.
The family will visit with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
