Car crashes when bee stings driver.
An 82-year-old Redding motorist and his two passengers, age 75 and 69, were injured yesterday morning on Route 36, about seven miles east of Red Bluff.
Cause of the accident was a bee landed on the back of the driver, Ralph A. Nye.
One of Nye's passengers, Maude Skeen, 69, of Los Molinos, attached the insect with her handkerchief.
Result was that the car went off the roadway, careened for almost 200 feet down the should of the road, and came to rest after turning over.
Both Nye and Mrs. Skeen were thrown from the car. Trapped in the back seat, Mrs. Nye, 75, was badly hurt by a coat hanger which jabbed through her nose and out her mouth. All three were taken to a Red Bluff hospital for emergency treatment.

Social Security Death Index gives Maude's date of birth as 14 Feb 1889; death as May 1969 in Los Molinos, Tehama, CA.
