Fred Lane White was born 17 May 1866 in Coatsburg, Adams County, Illinois and died 20 September 1938 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. He married on 19 July 1888, in Quincy, Illinois, to Emma M. Asher, daughter of Henry and Susan (White) Asher. Emma was born 19 January 1867 in Adams County, Illinois, and died 8 July 1944 in Quincy, Illinois. Fred was employed as a salesman for the Frese Nurseries when it was located in Coatsburg. He later traveled for the Quincy Whig and still later was a food products salesman.

There were five (5) children born of the marriage.

White of Coatsburg, brother of the Rev. Gay C. White, newly appointed Springfield district superintendent of the Methodist church, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at St. Mary's hospital in Quincy. He was 72 years old. Death followed an illness of several months. Mr. White had been retired in recent years. He was formerly a salesman. Surviving are his wife; five children; two sisters residing in Kansas, and his brother in Springfield. Funeral services will be held probably tomorrow at Coatsburg. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. White will go to Coatsburg this afternoon.
