Lucy Ellen Kirkpatrick

Lucy Kirkpatrick was born circa 1845 in Illinois. She was only about four years old when her father died. On 17 August 1865, soon after he had returned from the Civil War, Lucy married in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois to William Jasper White, son of John Alfred and Elizabeth Ann White. William was born 19 December 1841 in Adams County, Illinois and died 7 August 1916 in Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri. Lucy had one child, but she died soon after giving birth, on 1 March 1868, of tuberculosis. According to William and Catherine's son, Gay White, Lucy suggested to William and to her cousin, Catherine Serena Kirkpatrick, shortly before her death, that they should marry. Following Lucy's death, William did indeed marry Catherine Serena Kirkpatrick and had a second family.
