On the 1930 U. S. Census of Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska, John B. Kirkpatrick appears with his wife Catherine age 39. John is a broker of live stock. Also in the household is his nephew, Harold Bellard, age 26, single, born in Wisconsin and working as a salesman of electric refrigerators. John was 29 when he married and his wife was 26.

Omaha World Herald, April 24, 1957: Kirkpatrick Dies; Commission Man. John B. Kirkpatrick, 1322 South Thirty-fifth Street, a pioneer in Omaha's livestock industry, died Tuesday afternoon at his home. Mr. Kirkpatrick helped found the Kirkpatrick Brothers Livestock Commission Company at the Omaha Stock Yards in 1910. He has been active in the firm since that time. Survivors include his wife, Theresa; a son, James; a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann Kunasek; two brothers, Clarence E. and Ray F., all of Omaha, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Schroyer, Lake Charles, La. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the N. P. Swanson Mortuary.
