The Macon Times Democrat, Macon, Missouri, May 2, 1912, Page 3, Col. 2: John Newmeyer [Newmyer], an old and respected soldier and citizen, died very suddenly at the home of his daughter Mrs. C. W. Davisson of Atlanta last Friday morning. He had been afflicted for some time with dropsy, but no one thought the end was so near. His funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O. C. Gross, assisted by rev. J. A. Foutch at the Mt. Tabor church last Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which his body was laid away in the nearby cemetery.
