San Bernardino Sun, San Bernardino, California, June 19, 1948, Page 13, Col. 1: Death Claims Lulu K. Patton. Longtime Resident Of City Stricken. Mrs. Lulu Kirkpatrick Patton, 76, mother of Will J. Patton, field division chief of the San Bernardino branch of internal revenue and Gilbert Patton, chief clerk of the city water department, died Thursday night at her home, 706 Seventh street, following a brief illness. Widow of J. H. Patton, pioneer San Bernardino grocer. Mrs. Patton had resided in San Bernardino since 1910. She was a native of Union City, Tenn., and had lived in Southern California 60 years. In addition to the two sons, she is survived by another son, Amos H. Patton; a daughter, Mrs. Taylor F. Peterson, both of San Bernardino; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Robert and Felix Kirkpatrick of La Mesa; Wert Kirkpatrick of Whittier; F. A. Kirkpatrick of San Diego, and Leonard Kirkpatrick of Riverside, and a sister, Mrs. Mary O'Niel of Riverside. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Stephens & Bobbitt chapel and interment will follow in Montecito Memorial park. I. M. Knopsnyder & Sons mortuary of Colton will direct the rites.
