Belleville News-Democrat, Belleville, Illinois, September 29, 1998, Page 4B: Sylvester "Rodney" Ham, 87, of Cahokia, Ill., born Sept. 16, 1911, in Rumbar [Rombauer], Mo., peacefully went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 26, 1998, at the Calvin Johnson Nursing Home, Belleville, Ill. Mr. Ham was retired from Union Pacific (MoPac) Railroad after 35 years. He was a member of the Trinity General Baptist Church, Dupo, Ill. Mr. Ham was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann, nee Schlemmer, Ham; a son, Edward Schneeberger; three brothers, Clarence, Ardell and Sherman Ham; a sister Goldie Ham; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Hern. Surviving are two sons, Robert (Vickie) Ham of Marissa, Ill., and John (Michele) Schneeberger of Florissant, Colo.; four daughters, Barb (Donald) Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Kathy (Tim) Selby of Bloomdale, Mo., Edna (Ken) Rodenberg of East Carondelet, Ill., and Lina (Dave) Albright of Burnt Prairie, Ill.; a brother, Med (Doris) Ham of Puxico, Mo.; four sisters, Janevee Foster of Fisk, Mo., Edith (Bill) Butree of Puxico, Mo., Gladys Hastings of Dupo, Ill., and Nellie (Arthur) Berens of Belleville, Ill.; a mother-in-law, Elsie Schlemmer of Dupo, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, Amy, Alisha, Angie, Robert, Mike, Shaun, Chrystal, Nick, Ryan, Ashley, Jeff, Greg, Buddy, Amanda, Tony, Richie, John, Julie, Donna and Donald; and ten great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation: Friends may call from 8 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill.Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill., with the Rev. Gale Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
