Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, Thursday, May 27, 1943, Page 19, Col. 2: Pvt. Wendell Kirkpatrick arrived Monday for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Anna Kirkpatrick, 215 Center street. Private Kirkpatrick, who is stationed in the army-medical corps at William Beaumont general hospital, El Paso, Tex ., accompanined a patient to Ames, Ia. after a five-day leave he will return to Texas.

Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, Monday, September 19, 2005: FREDERICKSBURG--Wendell C. Kirkpatrick, 83, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 17, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Thomas C. and Anna Morley Kirkpatrick. He married Virginia Ann Bresson on Dec. 7, 1946, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo. Mr. Kirkpatrick attended school in Waterloo and served in the U.S. Army in World War II, where he was wounded in action. He was a cabinet maker and woodworker for Waterloo Wood Bearing, retiring in 1984. He and his wife moved to their acreage west of Fredericksburg in 1995. Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Kathi Kirkpatrick of Younkers, N.Y., and Trish (Ed) Hander of Columbia, Mo.; a son, Kevin (Brenda) of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter; and a sister, Virginia Gorton of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: a brother, Russell. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph Center, New Hampton, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Park, Cedar Falls, with military rites by Cedar Falls American Legion. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6 p.m. Scripture. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to Fredericksburg Family Clinic or the church.

Inscription: US Army World War II. Purple Heart.
