On the 1930 U. S. Census of Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa, Anna E. Kirkpatrick appears with her children, Russell C., Virginia M. and Wendell C. Her father is living with them. Anna states she is married but Thomas is not listed on the census with them.

Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa, January 6, 1933, Page 2, Col. 7: Two Wives Granted Decrees of Divorce. Anna E. Kirkpatrick is granted a divorce from Thomas E. Kirkpatrick in an order signed by Judge A. B. Lovejoy, on file Friday in District Court. Cruel and inhuman treatment was alleged. Custody of three minor children, age 18, 15, and 10, is granted to the mother, who is to receive $2.50 weekly for each of the two younger, until each is 18 years old. The husband is also to pay $12.50 to the plaintiff to apply on rent of her home at 433 Vine street.
