Ferdinand "Ferdie" Shroyer

Ferdinand Shroyer Lived in Elm Creek Township since His Birth on December 2, 1875. Death claimed one of the natives of Marshall county and a long-time resident last Thursday when Ferdinand Shroyer, a grandson of Philip Shroyer after whom the settlement of Schroyer south of Marysville was name, succumbed to an illness of six months duration at a Marysville hospital. Mr. Shroyer had lived in the vicinity of Schroyer since his birth 62 years ago. His funeral were conducted Sunday afternoon at Rice's Funeral home by the Rev. M. W. Whitlow and interment was in the Marysville cemetery. Mr. Shroyer was born at Schroyer on December 2, 1875, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Shroyer, pioneer residents of Marshall county. He was educated in the local schools and in 1900 was married to Effie Kirkpatrick. Four children of this marriage survive their father. They are Mrs. Lova Berry, Troupe, Texas; Mrs. Vada Luceers, Alberta, Canada; Darrell Shroyer, Waterville; and Mrs. Iris John, Houston, Texas. On January 30, 1924, Mr. Shroyer married Olive Miller, who also survives him. A farmer during his adult life, Mr. Shroyer was well known throughout the county. Besids those already named, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mamie Mohrbacher, San Diego, Calif.; a brother John, San Diego; and seven grandsons.
