The Times-News, Twin Falls, Idaho, August 24, 2005: 2 PHOTOS Delyte 'Dea' June Clason Simmons, Nampa -- Delyte "Dea" June Clason Simmons, 83, of Nampa, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. Delyte was born June 6, 1922, in Wilder, Idaho, to George and Agnes Clason. She graduated from Wilder High School in 1940. In 1941, she entered nursing school at St. Luke's Boise, Idaho, graduating as a registered nurse. In 1943, while waiting for her call to the service, Delyte joined the American Red Cross to work as an assistant to Dr. Cole, Caldwell. Later in the year, she was called up to serve her country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After boot camp training in Spokane, Wash., she was transferred to Santa Anita, Calif., where she was assigned to the U.S. Army Air Corp. Hospital. In August 1943, she met her husband to be, Sgt. Robert Simmons, and on Oct. 8, 1944, they were married in San Diego, Calif. Delyte received her discharge in 1946 and returned to Idaho where she waited for her husband to return from overseas. They both spent the next 18 months working at Stibnite, Idaho. In 1950, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where Delyte worked at the Drs. Office and Magic Valley Hospital for 26 years, where she loved working with babies. They returned to Nampa, Idaho, in 1975 where she retired, completing 35 years of nursing. Delyte is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob; brother, [Robert] Burton (Wanda) Clason, The Dalles, Ore.; she was blessed with two children, daughter, Joan, Boise, Idaho; and son, Tom (Terri) Simmons, Chubbuck, Idaho; two granddaughters, Tawnya (Jack) Driever, Roy, Utah, and Tamara (Eren) Pruett, Pocatello, Idaho; two great-grandchildren, Alissa and Jaxon Driever; brother-in law, Jack (Elisabeth) Simmons, Meridian, Idaho; sister-in-law, Lavina Clason, Middleton, Idaho; and her cousin, Gwynith Parriott, Moab, Utah. Delyte was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Harvey Clason; brother-in-law, Alvyn Simmons; and a nephew. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. S., Nampa, ID 83651, Office: 466-3545. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Boise at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
