Alice Echo-News, Alice, Texas, Tuesday, January 11, 2011: ALICE - Harold Dwight Aycock, 86, of Alice, Texas was born April 24, 1924 in Donna, Texas to Ernest Vernon and Ada (Betts) Aycock. He died January 9, 2011. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman and Christian. After he served his country as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, he came home and married Billie Joyce Kimbro in 1948. In 1950 they moved to Alice, Texas and started Aycock Oil Company. Today, Aycock Oil Company is a successful fuel-lubricants and chemical distributor serving customers along the Gulf Coast and throughout South Texas. Harold served as an elder in the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice, where he worshiped. He was a life-time member of the Texas Oil Marketers Association of Texas. His life was his family, his business, his Christian faith, and his devoted wife, Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ada Aycock; his brothers, Tom and Norman Aycock and his sister, Ora V. Aycock. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; his son, Eugene (Jeanette) Aycock; his daughter, Diane (Jimmy) Lewis of Alice, Texas; four grandchildren, Andrea (Michael) Bertagna of Sacramento, CA, Amanda (Jim) Huefner of Fredericksburg, VA, Jim Lewis of Alice and Travis (Kristen) Lewis of Lubbock, TX; two great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Avery Bertagna of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Allen DeBerry and three nephews, Bobby Aycock, Tommy Aycock and Mark DeBerry. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Holmgreen Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice. Burial will follow in Alice Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice. Memorials may be given to the Morningside Drive Church of Christ in Alice, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, Inc.
