Robert Campbell Kirkpatrick

Robert C. Kirkpatrick was born ca. 1825, probably in Jackson County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth ("Betsy") Thompson, who was born perhaps ca. 1836.
There were five (5) children born of the marriage.
From Find-A-Grave.com: Robert C. & Elizabeth Kirkpatrick lived in Jackson Co., TN on the 1860 TN census with 6 of their children, including twin girls, Nancy Keziah & Martha born 14 Dec 1859 in Gainsboro, Jackson Co., TX (reportedly) [TX should be TN]. His wife Elizabeth (Bettie) Thompson is said to have died in 1866 on some family trees. By 1880 Robert is married to a lady named Mary and is living in Westminster twp, Los Angeles Co., CA with his two youngest sons, Amos & Claudius (age 24 & 16).
On the 1900 Riverside County, CA census the father, Robert C, sons William T (and his family), John A, Amos G & Claudius M. Kirkpatrick all lived & farmed in Perris, Riverside Co. California.
He is mentioned in the biography of his son-in-law, John B. Teel as follows:
BIOGRAPHY "ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA" 1890, .. page 222
"J. B. TEEL [JOHN BEVERLY TEEL]........,Mr. Teel was married in 1877 to Miss Nancy Keziah Kirkpatrick, daughter of R. C. Kirkpatrick, a merchant and native of Tennessee. She was born in Gainsborough, Jackson County, Tennessee, in 1857." From this reference it follows that he and his children have emigrated from TN before 1877.
Hemet News, Hemet, California, Friday, February 26, 1904, Page 8, Col. 3: Robert C. Kirkpatrick died at his home in the Menifee valley about noon Tuesday of last week. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Union City, Tennessee, where he grew to manhood and engaged in the mercantile business. In 1873 his health began to fail and he came to California, settling in Los Angeles county. In 1881 he moved to Menifee valley. He was married in 1849 to a Miss Elizabeth Thompson. To this union nine children were born, five of whom survive him, William, John A., Amos G., Mrs. J. B. Teel, Claudius M. Mr. Kirkpatrick suffered greatly for many years, but was patient, having a strong faith in God, which was an outgrowth of long Christian living. To him death came as a welcome messenger.
