Mary was a nurse for 32 years. Robert died 6 March 1978. Both are buried in Forest Home Cemetery at Mount Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31, for Mary Florence Russell at the First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Carl Wilson, pastor of the church, officiated. Mrs. Howard Messer was the organist. Members of the Henry County Nurses' Association were honorary bearers. The pallbearers were Edward Devinger, Miles, Rukgaber, Raymond Vandenberg, Harry Raines, Doyle Moxley and Delbert Foss. Interment was in the Forest Home cemetery.
