The following inventory is on record in the Probate Office, New Haven. It is an interesting exhibit of the estate of a thrifty young farmer of the early colonial period.

An inventory of the estate of Thomas Canfield lately deceased Item. His waearing apparrell 9 lb 18 s 6 d one gun and sword & ammunition. etc.
This schedule has been frequently referred to as an inventory of the estate of Thomas Canfield, Sr, but the item "half the old house and homestead that were his father's prove that the property belonged to his son Thomas (2).
