Lt. of the Indian Dept and during the Rev.War fought with Joseph Brant Mohawk Chief his brother-in-law in some of the bloodiest action in New York.
Made a claim to the American Goverment for losses durning the war, recieved on the 18 Apr 1788. Claim: 105 acres recieved from his father as gift; 250 acres inherited from uncle Evidence: Deposition 7 Dec 1787 Niagara by Adam Young that in 1771 he made a deed of gift to his son, the claimant of 100 acres as his portion; son was driven off the property by the rebels in 1777. Deponents brother, Frederick Young, owned 250 acres adjoining; died at Kings Garrison in Niagara in 1777, leaving only son who died intestate in 1779 and without issue, by which claimant became entitled to the whole estate. Deposition 7 Dec 1787 Niagara by Henry Williams Nelles that he knew claimant to own the estate. Note that claimant is unable to attend for examination, as he lives 100 miles away with Mohawk Indians.

Lt John Young stateding that he was a Lt in the Six Nations Indian Dept during the late American War and was one of the first Loyalist who came into this Provience and that he brought a wife and three children. Prays for the usual quantity allowed to officers of his rank and for family lands. 200 acres for being an officer and 250 acres for family
It appears that the lands of these Youngs on the Grand River comprised of two farms, one of his father and brothers combined and that of his which was located down river from his fathers and was not involved with the questionable titles and the numerious lawsuits that came up because of it.
