William SCOTT

(1 Jun 1828 - 24 Dec 1903)

[young.FTW]

William and Jemina came from England with two children, Emily and William. It is believed that two other children died at sea. The Scotts settled in Glandford Twp of Wentworth Co.
From the 1871 census we find William Scott, a farm laborer, is a tenant on three acres of lot 12 concession 7. The family has grown so I'm sure his 1/4 acre plot of potatoes that produced 30 bushels was put to good use.

William Scott, of Tyneside, died at the residence of his daughter Mrs Phillips, corner of King St and Sanford Ave this morning. He had come to spend Christmas here, and while not in the best of health, died rather suddenly. He was about 70 years of age. Another daughter, Mrs Munn, lives on the mountain top. The funeral will take place Saturday morning from his daughter, Mrs Phillips residence.
