Eunice CHIDESTER
(18 Feb 1833 - 21 Jan 1905)
!EUNICE CHIDESTER HARMON, RHT's great-grandmother was born 18 Feb 1834, at Florence, Madison, Ohio. Eunice was baptized @ age 8 in Nauvoo, Illinois 18 Feb 1842. At age 11 she saw the bodies of the martyrs and witnessed the mantel fall on Brigham Young. She spent six years in Nauvoo, one year in Liberty, Missouri, a winter in Far West, Missouri, and a winter destitute in Hainesville, Iowa. At age 15 she walked nearly the entire distance to the valley. Eunice married LEVI NEHEMIAH HARMON in 1854 @ SLC. She was the mother of seven children, five sons and two daughters. Her husband died at age 45 leaving her to raise five small children. Her son, OLIVER JOHN HARMON built her a small home in Huntington and she lived on the north east corner of his lot where she ran a millinery and confection shop. Her granddaughters [Almira, Enid, Zelma, and Lora] would come nearly everyday to help turn the handle on her huge icecream freezer. She sold icecream and cookies daily to her customers. She died 21 Jan 1905, at age 71 in Price and was buried in Huntington, Utah. Her son OLIVER JOHN HARMON and his wife ALMIRA TERRY HARMON can officially be called "Utah Pioneers", because they were both born before the railroad came to Utah!

! Eunice died at age 72! Her mother, Mary Parker Chidester, buried three of her children on the trail; two brothers and one sister of Eunice Chidester: 1) Mary was buried in Liberty, Missouri. 2) Jared was buried in Far West, Missouri. 3) James was buried in Nauvoo, Illinois.
!Eunice was born on ZION'S CAMP. As a baby she traveled with ZION'S CAMP one-way to Liberty, Missouri. EUNICE was listed along with her brother among the seven children on ZION'S CAMP. (History of the Church, Volume II, Copywright GASmith, 1948, 1850)
