Death
Funeral services for Guy Arnold Parker, 67-year old Mena resident, who died March 23, was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dillard A Miller officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.Casket bearers were John D Hendrix, Guilford Forbes, T C Masters, Non Masters, Claude Johnston and David Heath. Honorary casketbearers included Orville Hath, Harold Gene Parker, Homer Weaver, Lee McMillan, Homer Craig and Ralph Chapman.
Mr Parker was born April 11, 1903, at Board Camp, his parents being the late Mr. and Mrs David G Parker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a retired aircrraft worker, having spent 18 years with Boeing Aircrafgt in Wichita, Kan., moving to Mena in June 18970. On June 6, 1936 he was married at Board Camp to Miss Thema Ada Sims, who survives him.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs Frances Russell, Irving, Texas; one sister, Mrs Lester McMillan, Board Camp; ad two grandchildren.
Out-of-town friends attending the funeral of r Parker included Mr and Mrs August Less, Utica, Miss.; Mr and Mrs Tom Rowe, Shreveport, La.,; Mr and Mrs Connie B Stanford, Irving Texas; Mr and Mrs Oliver Wiles and Mrs Tommy Chesshir, Susan, Mike and Billy, all of Hot Springs, Mr and Mrs Edward McMillan of Pine Bluff and Mr and Mrs Charles Kuntz of Waldron.
Guy Parker was the son of David Green and Georgann Ellison Parker, grandson of Alfred James and Mary Jane Settle Parker, great-grandson of Giles Parker and Elizabeth Isom, great-great-grandson of Isaac and Nancy Jones Parker. He was the husband of Thelma Sims Parker. He grew up in Rural Polk County near Board Camp, Arkansas, where he was a farmer. Our family moved to Wichita Kansas in 1953 and he and Thelma remained there until 1970, when they moved back home to Polk County, Arkansas.
