Miscellaneous
was Methodist missionary to Liberia for many years, first entered service in 1837. Widow donated money to Hamline Univerisity St Paul Minnesota in memory of dead child, with which was built "Goheen Hall"Upon reaching Liberia, he was an important factor as a physician and Christian worker.He stood at this post of duty for five years.
Marriage
Tanscribed records by Buecher indicate Marriage was 10 December 1846. This may be the date of application of license. Further research is needed.In 1846 she married to Dr. S. M. E. Goheen. He was practing medicine in Lebanon. Ill., and was also professor in McKendree College at that time.
Residence
With his brother Davis who was a Methodist minister with a genius for organization and was a worker for KcKendree College in Lebanon.Death
1851 Goheen, Sylvanus and 1854 Goheen, John WDr Goheen went to California during the great gold craze. He practiced medicine and his own health not the strongest he found no rest. He was suddenly prostrated with a sickness from which he did not recover. He reached California in June and was buried the following January.
