He never married. Violet Parlee writes, "He liked working in the woods. He made axe handles, cut most of the firewood at home, and did a lot of hunting and trout fishing. He loved the woods! He lived at home with his brother Manford until October 1981, when he became ill. He then lived with his sister Violet Parlee and William until April 1988, when he was admitted to a nursing home in Norton. He was there until the home closed in 21 Dec 1989, then moved to Mill Cove Nursing Home, where he resided until his death."
