Roley "resided in the Havelock area for nearly 60 years." His death occured when he was "Found Pinned Under Tractor" when "a tractor he was operating rolled over an embankment on the Canaan Road." He was 86 years of age.

Ardella's death occured 21 Jul 1930 "following a fracture at the base of the skull sustained in a motor accident about one mile east of Norton."

Roland and his family are the only Ryder family mentioned in Loyalist Lineages in Canada, not as a Loyalist descendent himself, but as having married into a lotalist family.
