Funeral service was held in Montreal Tuesday for Edward A. Ryder, a native of Havelock NB and former Deputy Vice President of Freight Sales for Canadian National Railways. Mr. Ryder who retired in 1964, died in Montreal Friday. It was in the operating department of the old Intercolonial Railway that Mt. Ryder began his railway career in 1920, working in Moncton and Newcastle. Four years later he transferred to the traffic department in Montreal and held position in the rate and tariff bureau, the foreign freight department, the office of the general freight traffic manager, and in the office of the vice-president of traffic. He transferred to Moncton in 1949 as traffic manager, to Toronto in 1951.
In 1953 he returned to Montreal as Assistant General Freight Traffic manager, and was appointed general freight traffic manager in 1955," (date not recorded)
Married Grace Steward or Toronto, had one son, all died during the 1960s.
