NORMAN SUTHERLAND
(22 Dec 1865 - 1912)
Norman was apparently orphaned by both parents, as in 1871 he is shown living with his uncle Norman Ryder at Wheaton Settlement NB. Following Norman Ryder's early death in 1875, his wife Permilia Wheaton married Alexander Ryder (see Fam#61), and Norman was raised as their son.
Norman is said to have wanted to marry Annie Patterson, but was prevented from doing so by other family members. However, Norman and Annie had a natural son, later adopted by Alexander and Mealie Ryder, and took the name of Ryder. [Dana Ryder]
