FREDERICK DUANE RYDER

Fred was the son of Norman Sutherland, but was raised by Alex and Mealie Ryder, who gave him the name Ryder, which he kept for life. Dana Ryder provided the following information: "Fred was a very kind man. I knew him ever since I could remember. He was a chef for the Elmwood Hotel in Waterville ME. During WWII he worked for the south Portland Shipbuilding Corp, and later helped build the Texas Towers in South Portland. He lived on Boothbay Ave, South Portland. His wife grew up on the next farm above me at hardship Acres in Cherryvale NB. [Dana C. Ryder]
