JOSEPH A. RIDER

(1716 - Bef 4 Feb 1783)

[Below is from Fremont Rider Book:

Res. Middletown, RI. Nellie Rider "assumes" that this RI. Joseph Rider is the son of William, 1684; and there is a strong probability that her assumption is justified; but the connection cannot yet be deemed proved. Bayles "History of Newport Co. R. I.". quotes the act of the R. I. General Assembly, of 1781:Dec., appointing the justices of the peace of the vsrious towns to assess the damage done by the British Army in occupation. Joseph Rider was, under this act awarded 286 pounds 18 shillings and Joseph Rider, Jr. 250 pounds 14 shillings. (Rider, Nellie; RI. Recds:v.4 and v.7.)]
