BIOGRAPHY: According to "The Haltom Family History" published in 199 9 by Patric k R. Pearsey: "Levi J. Haltom was born March 10, 1844 in O wen County, Indiana t o Joel and Lucinda (Morris) Haltom and married D ecember 13, 1864 to Roann R. Ch aney, born September 8, 1847 in Indian a. Levi was a resident near Atkinsonville in Jacksontownship. Roann j oined the New Union Baptist Church at age 12. In Au gust 1892, Levi so ld his farm and moved to Kansas where his brother John P. Halt om ha d previously moved. Levi returned to Owen County, buying a farm in Mor gan township,where he died October 23, 1897. Roann Haltom died Octobe r 16, 1925 in Owen County. Both are buried in the Carolina Cemetery. " In all, they bore elev en children.
