Thomas E. Briles

(13 Jan 1950 - 12 Oct 2007)

NAPA - Thomas E. Briles, 57, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 12, 2007.

Tom was born on Jan. 13, 1950 in Vallejo to Ruth and Edmund Briles.

He was raised and educated in Napa, graduating from Napa High School. Tom later moved to Vacaville with his wife Pamela, where they made many new friends and enjoyed many years together on the ranch they treasured and loved. Tom began his career working as a butcher at Napa Valley Locker Service, which was owned by his family. He then went on to work for the City of Napa, as an animal control officer until he discovered his true passion as a craftsman, and began his longtime career as a carpenter. He was a very talented and gifted artisan, creating, designing and building many wonderful and unique pieces that his family will cherish and enjoy for many years. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of the Pope Valley Deer Club, where he made many friends. Tom loved to share his stories about all his adventures but the story he was most proud of was his recent hunting trip, where he was able to share the love of the sport with his oldest grandson, Travis.

Tom is survived by his mother, Ruth Briles; his daughter, Angela and son-in-law, Robert Panak; his three grandchildren, Travis, Kyle and Ryan; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Phipps and her children, Max and Morgan Phipps; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 24 years, Pamela Briles; his father, Edmund Briles; and his brother, Ernie Briles. He will be missed by all who knew him.
