Feb 10, 2000 Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Seven Dolors Catholic Church for Ervin Sand, 73, who died Thursday at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 tonight and after 9 a.m. Monday at Brenny Funeral Home, Albany. St. Agnes Mission Group will pray at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home in Albany, followed by Albany Lions at 7:30, parish prayers at 8 and St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Society and Albany Knights of Columbus at 8:30.

Ervin Sand was born in New Munich to Leo and Catherine (Thull) Sand. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Kraemer on Oct. 12, 1948, in West Union. He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Albany, Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Council 3628, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Joseph Catholic Aid Society, the Albany Chamber of Commerce and the Heartland Polka Club. He was on the boards of the Albany Pioneer Club, Albany Farmers Union, Albany Senior Citizens, Albany Heritage Society, Stearns County Watershed and the Stearns County Fair Board. He was a charter member and past president of Albany Lions Club, past president of Albany Industries, past Stearns County DFL chairman and was on the Albany City Council for nine years. He worked for MVBA for more than 18 years and was employed by Payco Seeds and Top Farm Seeds for more than 28 years. He was active in the development of residential and business growth in the city of Albany. He built and originally owned Sand's Motel and Sand's Restaurant in Albany.

Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons, Jim, Dale, Tom, Joyce Winter, Judy Dingmann, Leo, Brian, and Dennis; 21 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Pauline Kruschek and Syl, Ed, Maynard, Marlene Determan, Jean Enneking, Joan Otto and Bert, Vern, Jerome, and Flo Mayers.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Diane, Mary Kay and Mary Lou; sister, Lucille; and grandson, Joseph. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
