Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich for Margaret Hoppe who died Thursday, November 26 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Margaret E. Rausch was born August 4, 1923 in Farming, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Lodemeier) Rausch. On October 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to Odillo "Dillo" Hoppe at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Farming. They started farming north of New Munich after their marriage and later moved to Westport, Minnesota for about a year. They then moved back to New Munich to a farm south of town where they operated their hog and dairy cattle farm. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, bowling, and going on bus trips to the casino. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Gerald (Diane) Hoppe of St. Cloud, Karen (Vern) Heinen of Albany, Marvin Hoppe of New Munich, Steven (Robin) Hoppe of Melrose, and Linda (Neil) Dierkhising of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cecilia Kohorst, Leona Statz, and Theresa Loecken; and daughter-in-law, Mary Hoppe of Melrose.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dillo Hoppe on August 31, 2009; children, Alvin Hoppe in 2002, and Lou Ann Hoppe in 1973; brothers, Ed Rausch, Alphonse Rausch, and Leander Rausch; and sisters, Catherine Linz, Mary Kniprath, and Elizabeth Kohorst.
