Elizabeth "Liz" Kohorst
ichmond, died May 5, 2004, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Services were held on Monday, May 10, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Elizabeth was born in Farming to Joseph and Anna (Lodermeier) Rausch. She married Herman Kohorst on Sept. 21, 1937 in Farming. Elizabeth and Herman raised their children and farmed in the Farming area until 1968. They moved to Richmond in 1974, where Liz enjoyed a 30 year retirement of quilting, playing cards, eating out and traveling (as far away as Alaska) with various senior groups to plays, musicals and casinos. She volunteered at church, made the baptismal gowns for the newly baptized in the parish, helped out at school events, was the local "taxi" and an avid Twins fan. Liz thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will never forget her famous "sugar bread", "Bride's cream cake" and angel food cakes. Elizabeth was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, Farming and Richmond Christian Women, St. Cecelia, St. Theresa Society, and St. Francis Xavier, Golden Smiles, Silver and Gold Senior Citizen's Club and the Catholic Aid Association where she was a 50+ year member.
Survivors include her children, Rosalie (Norvin) Stiyer of New Hope, Evelyn (Roman) Svoboda of Monticello, Valeria Schwab (Bob Barnum) of Coon Rapids, Melvin (Vicki) of Lismore, Janice (John) Decker of Cold Spring, Elaine (Willie) Martig of Clinton and Sandy (Gary) Eickhoff of Farming; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Kniprath of Crystal, Ceil Kohorst of Farming, Leona Statz of Richmond, Margaret Hoppe of New Munich and Theresa Loecken of New Munich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman (1984); daughter, Luella (1958); grandson, Scott Schwab (2001); son-in-law, William Martig (2003); brothers and sisters, Catherine, Edmund, Alphonse, Leander, infant brothers Joseph and Aloyisius.
