Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Convent for Sister Mary Theophane 'Marie' Ahles, 84, who died Saturday at the convent.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at St. Francis Convent. There will be a wake service at 7:30 tonight at the convent in Little Falls.Arrangements were made by Shelley Funeral Home in Little Falls.
Sister Mary Theophane Ahles was born in Bluffton to Joseph and Elizabeth (Nett) Ahles. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls on Aug. 12, 1933; made first profession of vows on Aug. 12, 1935; and final vows on Aug. 12, 1938. She received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, and Mount Mary College, Milwaukee. She had additional education at St. John's University, Collegeville, and MacPhail School of Music, Minneapolis. She received a master's degree in hospital administration from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo. She ministered as a religion, piano and organ teacher, elementary school principal and hospital administrator and had lived in Browns Valley, Little Falls, Elk River, Osakis, Fergus Falls, Foley, Milwaukee and Cudahy, Wis.
Survivors include sisters and brothers, Sisters Assumpta, Lucina, Antonette and Joanne, OSF, and Frank of Little Falls, and the Rev. Jerry, OFM, of San Miguel, Calif.She was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Melchoir, Norbert, Paul, Raymond and Sister Dolores, OSF.
