Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2002 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Greenwald for Amanda C. Nathe, 96 of Greenwald, who died Monday, September 30, 2002 at Pine Villa Care Center, Melrose. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 6:45 pm and parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Amanda Nathe was born May 11, 1906 in Max, North Dakota to Math and Christine (Sand) Pflipsen. She married Edward Nathe on October 17, 1933 at St. John's Catholic Church, Meire Grove. They farmed near Greenwald for 32 years when they retired and moved to Greenwald in 1965. Amanda had been a resident of Pine Villa and Pine Haven Care Center since 1994. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella and Persistent Pals Homemakers Group.
Survivors include her children, Maynard (Donna) Nathe of Cold Spring, Dorreen (Clarence) Arens of Sauk Centre, Colleen (Dave) Evers of Texas, Jim (Irene) Nathe of Greenwald, Allen (Bernice) Nathe of Spring Hill, Bob (Sherry) Nathe of Avon, David (Doris) Nathe of Greenwald and Rueben (Darlene) Nathe of Sauk Centre; one brother, John Pflipsen of St. Paul; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward who died Dec. 3, 1967, and grandson Kurt Nathe; sisters and brothers, Josephine Lang, Angie Pflipsen, Olivia Kuehn, Louie, Hubert, Mike, Herbert and Tony Pflipsen. In lieu of thank you cards the family will make a donation to St. Andrew's and St. John's Parochial School.
