Peter Ahles became a school teacher and married a school teacher, Leonora Henneman. Prior to their marriage, Leonora asked her soon to be mother-in-law to teach her how to cook, since Mom was an excellent cook. They became very good friends as well as in-laws. Peter continued his education and through self study became an attorney, later holding the office of County Attorney. He was noted for his ability to convince the jury. They had 8 children.
