Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church for Ralph 'Happy' Otte, 78, who died Monday.Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Ralph Otte was born in Melrose, the son of Anna and Joseph Otte. He owned Happy's Harbor for 26 years and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He helped start the Dialysis Program at Lakeview Hospital and was past county commissioner for Washington County. He was a life member of Eagles and Knights of Columbus in which he was a past Grand Knight member of the fourth degree and active with their Tootsie Roll Drive. He was past Grand Counselor of United Commercial Travelers, a member of Elks, Lions, Catholic Order of Foresters, Stillwater American Legion, Stillwater Country Club and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Adeline; daughter, Cheris Schmoeckel of Stillwater; and sister and brother, Renee Moening and LeRoy of Melrose. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Delores Kluempke and Erwin. Memorials are preferred to the family.
