Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church for John N. Berns, 87, who died Monday at St. Michael's Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 tonight at the church in Sauk Centre. Christian Mothers, Poor Souls Society and Holy Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 7:30 tonight at the church in Sauk Centre, followed by a prayer service at 8. Arrangements were made by Roy-Hetland Funeral Home, Osakis.
John Berns was born in Getty Township, Stearns County, to Herman and Wilhemina (Wehlage) Berns. He worked as an accountant in Cambridge for several years. On Nov. 28, 1959, he married Eleanor Bauer at St. Paul's Catholic Church. He then began a public accounting and tax service in his home in Sauk Centre known as J.N. Berns Accounting. He continued his accounting career for more than 50 years, retiring last year. He was a member of St. Paul's parish.
Survivors include his wife. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Anna Marthaler, Rose Beckermann, Lewina Welle, Beata, Henry and Joseph.
